Cinema fans will enjoy the author's diligent sleuthing in the foot steps of Greene, as well as the book's m any production stills and location maps …. Timmermann brilliantly recreates the destroyed baroque elegance of Vienna and the business of filming the masterpiece there.
This is to tell you how delighted I am with the Third Man book. It is beautifully done, fascinating to look at, and highly researched and enjoyable to read. What a lot of work. (David Bellan)
Thank you so much for the beautifully inscribed copy of your book. I can' tell you how mich I appreciated it. It represents a very exciting evolution from the Geman version: much more of a ‘Zeitzeugnis'.
At last your dream project is a reality. I am so proud of you. Harry Lime has a new life thanks to you.
Your book is a marvellous tribute to what is my favourite film: beautifully written and produced and full of the most fascinating information. I was particularly interested to read about the Autrian/German members of the cast who were less familiar to me and who contributed to much to the film's success.
Just a note to let you know how absolutely delighted I am to have your book on The Third Man. It is a marvellous souvenir for a fanatical fan. I was particularly pleased to learn how the film was made and to learn more about the very well cast Viennese actors – Ernst Deutsch etc. and Dr. Winkel, not to mention the old lady with the quilt – Hedwig Bleibtreu. Congratulations on your initiative and I hope the book sells very well.
